Huskers officially sell out Red-White Spring Game for second straight year

For the second straight year, Nebraska's Red-White Spring Game will feature a capacity crowd. 

The school announced Saturday afternoon that it sold out Memorial Stadium for the April 13 scrimmage, marking the second time in as many years with Scott Frost at the helm that Husker fans will fill the venue. 

Tickets first went on sale Tuesday for season ticket holders and Wednesday for the general population, and by late Wednesday night, more than 80,000 tickets had been sold.

It took a couple days after that, but Saturday afternoon the official Husker Tickets Twitter account marked the sellout. 

A year ago, many fans griped about the difficulty around getting tickets. A relatively limited number remained after the season ticket-holder sale and some who tried to buy tickets online or over the phone when general tickets went on sale never had the chance to buy them.

In response, NU halved the number of tickets each account holder could purchase to 10 and increased the minimum number of tickets reserved for the general population. 

The 2018 crowd set a Red-White spring game record at 86,818. Nebraska has drawn at least 54,000 every year since 2004 and that streak will assuredly continue. The only question now is if 2019 will top 2018.
